Inika Mineral Foundations are all natural and contain no fillers so they are VERY concentrated, in other words A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY.
If using a lightweight moisturiser, make sure it has completely penetrated the skin before applying the mineral foundation. Inika mineral foundation powders glide beautifully onto dry skin.
To apply:
Step 1 Dip your Inika Vegan Kabuki Brush into the powder and work into the bristles ensuring the brush is evenly coated.
Step 2 Tap off the excess powder, turn the brush bristles up and tap lightly against a hard surface to settle the powder.
Step 3 Apply in light downward strokes all over the face. For heavier coverage, use a circular buffing motion, swirling all over the face.
The Vegan Kabuki brush is the key to applying Inika mineral cosmetics in a professional manner. It has been designed to work specifically with your Inika powders. You can also use a latex sponge for a more matte finish.
Do not add more Inika mineral makeup to the brush when working around the eye area. It will have a tendency to settle into the lines around your eyes.
The secret to using Inika mineral makeup is to apply it in very sheer layers. It is the light refracting qualities of the Inika pure minerals that give it the ability to cover the skin naturally and allow your inner beauty to shine forth.
For those with dry, flaky skin, Inika Mineral Foundations can be blended with moisturisers to create a crème foundation. First moisturise as usual, and then tap a small amount of Inika Mineral powder into the palm of the hand. Add a drop of moisturiser. Blend the two products together until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved. Use your fingers or make-up wedge to apply. For the perfect medium-light coverage with oil controlling properties, blend equal amounts of Inika Mineral Foundation and Inika Setting Powder.
For post laser surgery: Do not apply minerals over a heavy petrolatum based balm or heavy cream. Makeup will get cakey. If you have very dry skin, you can spritz a little skin freshener on top. This will re-hydrate your skin and take away a dry or flaky look.
Also, if you mist with the skin freshener, and then use a flocked sponge or brush to lightly smooth your make up in a downward motion; you will minimise the appearance of large pores. Inika Mineral Make-up can be applied after certain facial work and treatments and with the soothing and calming properties of zinc, mineral cosmetics are the only cosmetics recommended by leading beauticians, dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons.
Troubleshooting Your Inika Mineral Powder Foundation Application
Problem: Chalky, mask-like or too heavy: Cause: Over-application, colour is too light, or use of incorrect application tool. Solution: Custom blend two shades together, use a darker shade or use Inika Vegan Kabuki Brush.
Problem: Drying Appearance: Cause: Surface of the skin is too dry and needs exfoliation. Solution: Utilise a heavier moisturiser, use a scrub or rapid exfolilator to smooth the skin's surface, or create a liquid foundation by blending your moisturiser and mineral makeup together.
Problem: Pores Appear Larger or Powder is Lying in Fine Lines: Cause: Over-application and/or incorrect application technique. Solution: Try two different application techniques: Firstly try using light downward strokes with your Inika kabuki brush. If that is no better try buffing the skin, using circular movements with the Inika kabuki brush. Also if you mist with a skin freshener, and then use a brush to lightly smooth your make up in a downward motion; you will minimize the appearance of large pores. Or apply Inika Setting Powder before or after the mineral foundation by pressing it into the skin with a dry sponge.
Problem: Shiny or oily appearance: Cause: Moisturiser too heavy or over-application. Solution: Use oil free moisturiser or apply Inika Setting Powder under and/or over the Inika mineral foundation.
Problem: Streaked, blotchy or uneven appearance: Cause: Over-application, moisturiser is too heavy, moisturiser may contain alpha hydroxy acids (minerals will not move), or the moisturiser is not completely penetrated into the skin. Solution: Blend foundation with Inika Setting Powder, experiment with different moisturisers and if the powder is mixed in your moisturiser, make sure that the powder is completely blended in.
Problem: Perspiring heavily or swimming: Solution: Dont wipe your face with a towel or with your hand. Just pat your face dry with a towel.
Problem: Wrong colour: Cause: This was probably chosen in poor lighting. Solution: The best way to test for the right colour is to do it on the jaw line in daylight. The colour should disappear if it blends perfectly with the skin. |
